Sussex County League
Although there are records of games played in the 19th century, Storrington FC was officially formed in 1920. After many years playing in the Worthing league, where numerous trophies were won, Storrington joined the West Sussex League in 1973. Swans soon outgrew these surroundings, and were elected to Division 2 of the Sussex County League in 1976. The next 14 years were spent in this division, during which time Swans twice achieved their highest placing of 4th, before relegation to Division 3 in 1990. The next decade saw something of a yo-yo existence - two promotions as Division 3 runners-up in 1993 and 1998 were offset by relegations back to that level in 1995 and 2002. Steady improvement both on and off the pitch over the subsequent 3 seasons culminated in Swans gaining promotion to Division 2 once more in 2005, this time as champions of Division 3 for the first time in their history. The last four seasons have seen consolidation of the Swans' senior status, with all campaigns ending in finishes in the lower half of the Division Two table. However, last season (2008/09) saw The Swans have their highest finish in recent times in 12th as they now enter a key development period for the club. The infrastructure is now in place for the club to progress, with an exciting Youth Team producing a host of very talented youngsters and floodlights to be erected during the 2009/10 season.
